Metro meters are used for sub-metering.
Sub-metering works where someone wants to share an existing (metered) MAIN supply of water or electricity with others.
The basic requirements for sub metering by Metro are:
- A main (metered) supply of electricity or water from Eskom or the local Council exists
- The main supply is billed to a person or entity who is responsible for paying for it
- The main supply is used to feed electricity or water to others (units, flats, rooms, sheds etc)
- The person or entity paying the bill wants to meter and collect the water or electricity usage from the others sharing it
